| CENTRE |
En route area control, including RIS (Radar Information Service) and FIS (Flight Information Service).
The Enroute Controller is responsible for enroute airspace including major air routes between capital cities.
Controllers clear the aircraft to climb to an approved cruising altitude, and authorise clearance during flight if any changes in altitude are necessary.
They also approve commencing descent for arrival prior to transferring control responsibility to the Terminal Controller(Approach). |
| APPROACH |
Approach control where provided as a separate function.
A Terminal Area Controller, approach manage the airspace immediately surrounding an airport(for arriving aircraft).
The area of responsibility usually extends out to about 40 nautical miles from Capital City airports.
Landings are sequenced to fit smoothly with other arriving aircraft.

| DEPARTURES |
Departure control where provided as a separate function.
A Terminal Area Controller, departures manage the airspace immediately surrounding an airport(for departing aircraft).
The area of responsibility usually extends out to about 40 nautical miles from Capital City airports.

| FINAL/DIRECTOR |
Radar control providing vectors onto final
approach. |
| TOWER |
Aerodrome control or aerodrome and
approach control where these services are
provided from an aerodrome control tower.
Air Traffic Controllers in the Tower keep traffic flowing, and instruct pilots when it is safe to depart.
After take-off, pilots and Air Traffic Control stay in contact but are transferred to either the Terminal or Enroute controller to safely climb the aircraft to higher airspace.
They are responsible for all aircraft and vehicle movements on taxiways, runways and the immediate vicinity of the airport. |
| GROUND |
Surface movement control.
Provides clearances to push back, start the engines, and taxi the runway.

| CLEARANCE DELIVERY |
Clearance delivery to departing aircraft. |
| RADAR |
RIS(Radar Information Service), where provided as a separate function in
terminal areas.
Provides an ATS surveillance and vectoring service within the controlled airspace. |
| FLIGHTWATCH |
FIS (Flight Information Service).
Provides Information about the operational aspects including meteorological conditions,
air routes and aerodromes, other than ALAs, navigation aids, communications facilities,
ATS Procedures ect. to pilots on request. |
